On September 17, 2023, over 75,000 people took to the streets of New York City for the March to End Fossil Fuels. This was a historic mobilization calling on President Joe Biden to stop approving fossil fuel projects, phase down oil and gas drilling, declare a climate emergency, and provide a just and equitable transition off fossil fuels. It was one of 700 #EndFossilFuels actions in 65 countries with 600,000 people joining over the weekend.
This was the largest climate mobilization since the start of the pandemic as world leaders convened on September 20th for the UN Climate Ambition Summit — a critical moment to move Biden towards stronger fossil fuel phase-out ahead of the 2024 election.

* Our renewable energy future must not repeat the violence of the extractive past. Justice must ground the transition off fossil fuels to redress the climate, colonialist, racist, socioeconomic, and ecological injustices of the fossil fuel era.
