The GreenFaith Boulder County Circle held a Fall Gathering and Interest Meeting on Thursday, November 14th. It has been awhile since we last gathered, and the time felt right to (re)energize our Circle for climate action in the coming year.

What a gift to have folx from so many communities gathered together, including…

Congregation Nevei Kodesh, Congregation Har HaShem, Boulder Valley UU Fellowship, Boulder Friends, Boulder Shambhala Center, Eon Zen Center, Upaya Zen Center, Community United Church of Christ, Pine Street Church, Flame and Well Druid Grove, Naropa University, First Congregational Church, Boulder Morningstar Zen Center, Climate Justice Hive, Joanna Macy Center, and more….

Many thanks to everyone who joined.

Shout out also to Micha K. Ben-David with the Climate Justice Hive for helping to guide our group discussion. And many thanks to the Joanna Macy Center and Climate Justice Hive for hosting us at Naropa, to the Mediterranean Market for the nourishing food, and to GreenFaith USA for picking up the tab to support our efforts.

We may have failed to take photos but it was a full room of heart-full people sharing, connecting, and planting seeds for faith-rooted climate action. It was wonderful to be together and combine our lights in these dark times.

Next steps:

Our goal was to affirm and deepen our relationships and explore ways to develop a stronger and wider network for collective action.

We will compile the many networks, connections and ideas that were shared and send that out to everyone in the coming weeks.

Our next gathering will be Thursday, January 16th, time TBD — we’ll send out a scheduling poll in early Jan.

If you are connected with someone who came to the gathering and is not on this email list, please forward our gratitude to them as well. They can sign up here to receive these emails.

In the meantime, many blessings to all as we turn toward the winter solstice and enter the holiday season. Please keep sharing here as you are called.

May we continue to co-create a sanctuary of support and loving action.

Lodi, Sam, mary beth, Pete, Sarah and Monica

All are invited to join GreenFaith and other 350 Colorado allies for the “State of the Climate” Rally Thursday, Jan. 11th, 12-1pm on the East Lawn of the State Capitol after Gov. Polis’ State of the State address kicking off the 2024 Colorado Legislative Session. Our own Pete Terpenning, Pastor Emeritus of Boulder’s Community United Church of Christ will offer a faith-based reflection and call to action at the rally.

Please RSVP here if you can attend & invite friends here on Facebook

  • Can’t make it on such short notice? Click here to send a message to your legislators today asking them to sign this open lettersupporting a phase out of permitting for oil and gas wells by 2030 and a just transition to a clean renewable energy future and to speak out against more fracking permits in our local communities NOW.
  • Immediately after the rally, Thursday at 1 pm, the group will hand deliver a petitionto Governor Polis’ office asking him to reject the inadequate new rules that the AQCC passed for reducing emissions from manufacturing. If you haven’t signed it yet, you can sign the petition here.

With 2023 confirmed as the hottest year on record, let’s call on our state leaders for meaningful action. We need a rapid, just transition off fossil fuels to a clean energy future and to end permitting for new oil and gas wells. Click here to learn more.

Organizing for an inclusive movement and the future we want takes dedication, and ensuring everyone is supported and freely able to participate as themselves is criticial for a strong climate movement – join 350 Colorado in learning!

In these two sessions you will learn about some basic principles of inclusive organizing and common pitfalls to avoid, how 350 Colorado works in this space, and how you can help insure the climate movement is as inclusive as possible.

JEDI Workshops: Embracing Inclusive Organizing
Session 1: Foundation & Getting Started
Thursday, December 5th, 6-8pm

Session 2: Making Our Organizing Inclusive
Thursday, December 12th, 6-8pm

RSVP here

………………………………………………………………………..

The original curriculum of these workshops is thanks to Angela Davis of iProject LLC, a Senior Advisor on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 350CO staff, board members, and activists further developed the material and created additional content that is from the landscape of our organizing here in Colorado and not only our efforts as an organization for an inclusive movement, but our hope that as many people as possible will join us in this vision.

And they more than just a learning opportunity. These workshops represent our collective commitment to reshape society towards an inclusive climate solution framework that addresses the root causes of injustice in our communities.

Imagine them as the seedbeds where we’ll learn how to keep making inclusivity central to our efforts, helping us transition to a clean energy economy. We’ll explore what it means to move away from an extractive way of being towards a more sustainable and just future. We want to move toward a movement that can equip all individuals with the resources needed to participate fully in climate organizing, through support, mutual aid, and accountability.

We acknowledge that we’re on a journey, that there’s much to learn and unlearn. But together, we can create spaces where growth and learning are an integral part of our climate justice mission.

In solidarity,
